Be an independent thinker

Think for yourself. Going along with the crowd can
seem easy at first, but it may lead you down a wrong
road. Know yourself. It's simpler to live by your own
convictions than to imitate someone else's style.

You have a good mind. Use it. Be an independent thinker
who is willing to choose simple values over sophisticated
arguments. Choose the company you want to keep, and spend
your energies on what's most important to you. Ignorance
is costly. Educate yourself on issues so you'll have an
informed opinion and make wiser decisions.
